Women's Health in Bend, OR

Proactive Choice is a women’s health clinic in Bend, Oregon run by Dr. Drew Collins, ND. Women see him for hormone imbalance, perimenopause and menopause, thyroid trouble, fertility questions and digestion, and care starts with a conversation and lab work.

Updated September 15, 2026. Care provided by Dr. Drew Collins, ND, Oregon naturopathic license 1332.

Dr. Collins has been in practice for more than 40 years, and women make up a big part of it. In the video above he describes the job plainly: listen first. He won’t talk down to you, and he won’t try to scare you into a treatment plan.

Some of what women come in for is hormonal balance. Some of it is diet, and some is stress. Often it’s all three.

It starts with a free phone consultation of about 5 to 10 minutes, so you can both decide whether it’s a fit.

When to see someone else first

Some problems need in-person care quickly, and a naturopathic visit shouldn’t delay it. Mayo Clinic advises seeing a healthcare professional as soon as you can if you have vaginal bleeding after menopause. The same goes for a new breast lump, very heavy bleeding, or pelvic pain with fever: call your primary doctor or OB-GYN, or go to urgent care.

Hormone therapy isn’t for everyone either. Cleveland Clinic says bioidentical hormones may not be safe if you have a history of, or a high risk for, blood clotting disorders, heart disease, breast cancer or stroke. If that’s you, there are still non-hormonal options to talk through, and it may make sense to include your cardiologist or oncologist.

Thorough Assessment

We begin with an in-depth consultation to understand your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and personal concerns. When necessary, we also order advanced diagnostics, including radiology, ultrasound imaging, and specialized blood work, to uncover the root causes of imbalance.

Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as the hormones your body makes. Some are FDA-approved and some are compounded, and compounded versions haven’t been tested by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. They carry the same kinds of risks as other hormone therapy, which is why testing comes first. More on BHRT in Bend.

Some women would rather try botanicals, including plant-based phytoestrogens, before or instead of hormone therapy. Herbs can interact with prescription drugs, so bring a list of everything you take.
