What Is Chelation Therapy?
Chelation therapy is an advanced detoxification method inspired by purification traditions practiced by indigenous cultures. This approach blends botanical and nutritional ingredients, harnessing the power of specific herbs and nutraceuticals to support autophagy—the body’s natural process for clearing out damaged cells.
In today’s world, exposure to heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, and aluminum is a growing health concern. Chelation therapy addresses these issues by utilizing a combination of agents, including humic and fulvic acids, zeolite, bentonite clay, chlorella, cilantro, MSM, and glutathione. Working together, these substances help eliminate heavy metals and environmental toxins, promoting a cleaner, healthier body.
Elimination of Heavy Metals
Chelation therapy is a proven method for eliminating harmful heavy metals—including lead, mercury, arsenic, and aluminum—that can accumulate in the body over time and contribute to various health problems.
FDA-Approved for Heavy Metal Poisoning
This therapy is recognized by the FDA for its effectiveness in treating cases of heavy metal poisoning, especially from lead and mercury, which often result from environmental or occupational exposure.
Support for Cardiovascular Health
Chelation therapy may benefit cardiovascular health by clearing heavy metals from arterial walls, reducing inflammation, and minimizing plaque buildup. This process can enhance blood flow by encouraging the development of collateral circulation.
Lowering Oxidative Stress
When combined with mineral and vitamin formulations, chelation therapy can help decrease oxidative stress and inflammation by removing metals linked to chronic disease and the aging process.

Our Procedure

Initial Consultation
We begin with a thorough discussion of your medical history, current symptoms, medications, and the reasons you are seeking chelation therapy. Dr. Collins will address all your questions, outline both expected and less common outcomes, and explain alternative options typically offered by conventional physicians. Informed consent is obtained prior to initiating any chelation protocol.

Comprehensive Testing
To accurately assess your toxic metal burden and overall health, we perform blood tests and, when appropriate, an EDTA-provoked heavy metal urine analysis or other relevant diagnostics.

Administration of Chelating Agents
Chelating agents can be administered through several methods, including intravenous (IV) drip, oral supplements, or suppositories. Dr. Collins recommends IV therapy as the most effective approach, while suppositories offer approximately 30% of the efficacy of IV therapy, and oral supplements provide about 10% effectiveness.

Treatment Duration
The length of your chelation therapy depends on the chosen chelating agent, your specific health condition, and your personal goals. Some patients opt for an intensive, seasonal series, receiving daily IV treatments for one week, four times a year, while most prefer weekly IV sessions. Progress is monitored with repeat EDTA-provoked urine analyses every 20 treatments to ensure optimal results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Chelation therapy is primarily used to treat heavy metal poisoning, such as lead and mercury toxicity. It is also FDA-approved for managing iron overload (hemochromatosis) and certain forms of anemia.
Chelation therapy uses a synthetic agent called EDTA, which can be administered orally, via suppository, or through an intravenous (IV) catheter. EDTA binds to positively charged heavy metals, like lead, mercury, and copper, in the bloodstream. Once bound, these metals are filtered by the kidneys and safely eliminated from the body through urine.
When performed by qualified healthcare professionals, chelation therapy is considered a safe treatment. Dr. Collins follows ACAM protocols and stays current with the latest advancements in the field. Chelation therapy is FDA-approved for treating heavy metal poisoning (including lead and mercury) and certain other medical conditions.
Beyond heavy metal detoxification, chelation therapy may support cardiovascular health by improving collateral circulation, reducing arterial irritation caused by metals, and enhancing overall blood flow. When combined with vitamins, minerals, and cofactors in standard IV formulations, it may also help decrease oxidative stress and inflammation in the body, potentially lowering the risk of heart disease.
Session length depends on the type of chelation agent and individual treatment needs. IV treatments can range from as short as 10 minutes (when using a bolus push of CA or Magnesium EDTA) to up to 3 hours with a comprehensive vitamin, mineral, and diNaEDTA formula.
Dr. Collins customizes treatment protocols based on results from EDTA-provoked urine heavy metal testing. Typically, treatments are administered once a week for twenty weeks, with follow-up testing to monitor progress and reduction of toxic load.Chelating agents may be delivered via IV drip, suppositories, or prescription capsules. The process begins with a thorough consultation to review your medical history, symptoms, and goals, followed by testing to assess metal levels and overall health. Throughout each session, your vital signs and other safety parameters are carefully monitored.
